Facebook group: "Girls should make the first move, and that first move should be a sandwich"

I got this picture from a friend of mine, who actually wrote that in there. I don't really know what to say about it, it speaks for itself. It sucks that our society accepts something like this. In high school I had a women english teacher who was a huge feminist. There were two boys in her class and I remember they made a derogatory feminist joke and she was furious and gave them detention for the next week. After that every boy and girl in his class and in the school, no longer made remarks like that around her. I dont understand how and what established that men were better than women, where does it say that anywhere, why is that acceptable? And why do we accept it? We preach equality and unity; yet, in reality we have none of those, everyone always thinks they are better than someone else and in return that makes us selfish. No one does anything for the better of someone else, there has to a positive in there for them as well, whether its fame or money. I feel like our society is so corrupted, that we are forced to do certain things because thats how we have been brought up, someone a long time ago established that THIS is the way things should be. Our society is power hungry, greedy, selfish, and evil, and we accept that because we are scared to find out what will happen if we rebel.Thursday, February 25, 2010
Mens Brains Vs Womens Brains
I thought this video was very interesting, considering this week we are talking about the difference between men and women. It's difficult to grasp how people are so completely different from one another. That no person is exactly the same. But what is even more interesting is how different a female is from a male. This video poked a lot of fun at the differences between their brains but I thought that it did make some interesting points. When he was talking about how a womens brain is like a wire circuit, in a way it does make sense. Whenever I hear or learn something I find a connection to something I've already learned and heard. I can't say everything, but a lot of things that I think about are in a way connection to something else I already know. I can't comment much on how he relates a mans brain to little boxes because well I'm not a man and it didn't make much sense to me, but I found it amusing when he said they had a box for nothing. Yet, I also found it a little offensive when he prayed before he talked about women, like we need to be saved. I feel society stresses so much on women and men being so different that it never gives us the opportunity to try to be equal.

I'm Nothing but a Baby Making Machine?
Wow, offensive much? I find it funny how men can degrade a womens sexuality, and belittle them and make them feel so worthless. It's sad, that this is what our society is, this is what millions of people believe. It's sad that some men and some women actually consider theirselves as property and their sole purpose is to grow up, get married, and make babies. Our society tries to coerce us to believe that this is the epitome of what America should be, of what any country should be? I've never envisioned myself as the one really to settle down and get married and start a family. Of course the thought has crossed my mind, and I don't doubt it will happen, I mean it is the social norm, is it not? But there is no way, I'm thinking of having that life anytime soon. One of my best friends has been dating her boyfriend for four years, and she is supposed to be engaged by next year and she is thrilled. Did I mention, she is only a freshman in college? The only thing she wants in life is to be married and have kids, she's only going to college because she can. Her boyfriend is a senior, and already has a job lined up and she is relying solely on that. Which is stupid, according to me. Women have so much beautiful potential that they need to flaunt it, everyday we are oppressed, and some of us let that happen. I never realized how bad it actually was until I was in this class. It never really even crossed my mind. I've seen prejudice among African Americans, Native Americans, etc. but to think that one gender can have so much hostility to another, is sickening. It just sucks that we have to live in a world where two opposite genders can't even get along. That it will forever be this way. Women do have the wonderful gift of life, and men to realize that without this gift, NONE of them would be here. I am no slave, I do not belong to anyone, I work for myself and my well being. I know that and I have that, and no one can take that away.
